Alpha waves are one of the frequencies of humanbrain waves, they range between 7-12 HZ.
This is a place of deep relaxation, but-not quite meditation. In Alpha, we begin to access the wealth of creativity-that lies just below our conscious awareness – it is the gateway, the entry-point that leads into deeper states of consciousness.
Alpha brainwaves are slower, and higher in amplitude.
A person who has completed a task and sits down to rest is often in an alpha state. A person who takes time out to reflect or meditate is usually in an alpha state. A person who takes a break from a conference and walks in the garden is often in an alpha state.
Alpha brain waves are slow, and scientific research has proven that when people are in the “alpha state”, they receive more oxygen return to the brain, allowing them to rest or sleep more peacefully and deeply.
Alpha brain wave production is an innate but one consequence of the modern stressful lifestyle is that we forget how to produce Alpha brain waves. Then we easily fall victim to anxiety and stress-related diseases. People who have more Alpha brain waves have less anxiety, stronger immune systems.
Creativity is another activity for which Alpha brain waves are helpful. In order to have a creative inspiration, your brain needs to be able to generate a big burst of Alpha brain waves, mostly on the left side of the brain. Any time you have an insight or an inspiration, you know your brain just produced more Alpha waves than usual.
